- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, with evidence of such.
- Agree to participate in individual testing for use of illegal drugs.
- Agree to criminal background search, reference checks, and abuse registry check.
- Agree to be screened for tuberculosis.

The individual does not require awake staff at night. The pay rate is $1600 every other week. In this job, the people you support become like family members. Your time off would mostly be during the week Monday – Friday 8:30am – 2:30pm, while another staff member picks them up to take them out in the community. Once they come home from the community, they are with you that evening, overnight, and into the next morning. They do not go out in the community on the weekends, so they are with you throughout the weekend. This job is definitely a big commitment. Experience in this field is preferred.
